Why a puppy from a "show breeder?"
The first thing that would be beneficial to address is the concept of a "dog show". Many folks are, understandably, not very familiar with the purpose of a show. Shows started in the mid 1850s, in England, as a way for enthusiasts and breeders of certain types of dogs to evaluate their animals in measure of their quality as a representative of their breed.
Each breed has their own written standard, describing what makes the breed the breed. Ideal temperament, ear shape, eye shape, hind leg angulation, colors, etc. What makes the Labrador Retriever such a charming companion? Its friendly and enthusiastic personality of course! A Lab that shows aggression or shyness would not be a good example of a breed, and a Judge would take that into account on whether to award him or not.
Not only does a well written breed standard protect the breed, participating in dog shows are a fun way to bond with your dog and tell the world about the Jindo! I have been doing dog shows since I was in high school, and it has always been a blast.
Our breed, the Korean Jindo Dog, is very much in need of people who are interested in promoting the quality of the breed in the US, so people interested in showing their dogs (and potentially breeding) are given high priority in our litters. We are all new once, so even if you have no experience with dog shows, I am more than happy to speak to you and mentor.
